Phrasal Verbs

1. "go on" it's mean "continue"...example : i went on working there
2. "break down" it's mean (if something stops working)...example: his car broke down
3. "give up" it's mean "stop"...example: i gave up smoking is same with  i stopped smoking
4. "take up" it's mean start or begin...example: i took up playing tennis
5. "come from" it's the sam with where are you from? Where do you come from? i come from italy
6. "bring up"...i brought up by my uncle (saya dibesarkan oleh paman saya)
7. "call off" it's mean "cancel" They cancelled the meeting or They called off the meeting
8. "carry on" it's mean continue example carry on working on this project
9. "be back" it's mean "return"...example i'll be back or i'll return or i'll come back or Don't worry, i'll      be back in a minute or i'll come soon.
10. "be over" it's mean finish...example the lesson is over or the lesson finished, the game is over                 same with it's the end of the game
11.  "catch up" (mengejar ketertinggalan)...example you misse some english lessons, you feel that you         don't have enough knowledge and other students know it better than you. i'd like to catch up               with my classmates.
12. "fill in" (mengisi)...fill in the gaps
13. "keep up" is "continue/go on/carry on...keep up the good work
14. "keep up with/catch up with have the same meaning" (mengejar terus)..you feel that you don't               have enough progress in comparison with others, you can say i'd like to keep up with them
15. Fall behind (ketinggalan) i can't keep up with the rest of the class. i need to study much harder
16. Lag behind (ketinggalan)...i fell behind/i lag behind the rest of my groupmates, so i need to keep         up with them.
17. Run out of...i run out of money (i have no more money/i have no money)
18. Come across (meet)..the word is new for me. i've never come across this word before
19. Come in...come in, come into my room
20. Look after (take care of)/menjaga...i look after my grandmother. she is 89.
21. Take after (look like/menyerupai/resemble)...he resemble his father/he take after his father (their appearance is almost the same, they have much in common, it's about how they look like).
